Why Protein is the Most Important Macro for Satiety
Correct Dave. It is literally harder for your body to turn protein into body fat compared to carbs or dietary fats. It's a very "expensive" fuel source for the metabolism.
Does anyone find it hard to get enough protein without spending a fortune? Meat prices in Toronto are getting ridiculous.
Eggs are still the best bang for your buck. I also buy Greek yogurt in bulk. It's basically liquid chicken breast in terms of macros.
Tinned tuna and cottage cheese are my budget staples here in the UK. Not the most glamorous but they get the job done.
Cottage cheese is underrated. Mix it with some hot sauce—sounds weird but it works.
I tried the high protein breakfast again today—omelette with turkey. It's 1pm and I'm just now thinking about lunch. Normally I'd be shaking by 11.
Glad to hear it Henry! That is the power of a stable blood sugar. No crash, no cravings.
One thing to watch out for is protein "farts" if you jump your intake too high too fast. Your gut bacteria needs time to adjust.
Haha, very true Dave. Increase it by 20g every few days rather than 100g overnight.
Good advice. Also, drink way more water. High protein diets can be tough on the kidneys if you're dehydrated.
Actually, that kidney thing is mostly a myth for healthy people, but water definitely helps with the digestion of all that bulk.
Is there an upper limit? I've heard you can only absorb 30g at a time.
Complete nonsense. Your body will absorb almost all of it, it just takes longer to process. If you eat a 16oz steak, you aren't wasting half the protein.
Good to know. I'm definitely a convert. Protein is my new best friend.
