How to Manage Contest Prep Brain Fog and Fatigue
For me, meditation and short walks outside really helped clear the head. Even 10 minutes away from screens, focusing on breathing, made a huge difference to my mood and mental clarity.
@PumpChaser, I'm currently hitting weights 5 days a week, plus daily cardio. Thinking maybe I need to drop a weight session and just stick to cardio for a few days to see if it helps. The thought of less training makes me anxious though.
Adaptogens like Rhodiola Rosea or Ashwagandha can be beneficial for managing stress and fatigue during prep. They won't magically cure brain fog, but they can support your body's response to stress.
@OverworkedDave, anxiety around cutting training is normal, but sometimes less is more. One session dropped for a week could be the reset your CNS needs. Trust your body, not just the plan. Your mental state is crucial.
Just curious, how many calories are you on right now, MidwestMike? Sometimes coaches push too hard, too fast. A slightly slower cut can save your mental sanity.
+1 to @CoachCelestine. I learned this the hard way. Pushing too hard when you're already drained just leads to burnout and injuries, not better results. Listen to your body's signals.
Anyone tried those 'brain supplements' with things like Lion's Mane or Alpha-GPC? Always wondered if they're legit or just hype, especially when you're already in a compromised state like prep.
