Vivobarefoot Motus Strength Review for Powerlifting
Has anyone tried these for more dynamic movements? Like burpees, box jumps, or short sprints in a CrossFit WOD? Or are they strictly for static lifting?
@CrossfitChris, while they're 'strength' focused, the minimalist design means they're not going to offer much cushioning or support for high-impact activities. They're built for ground feel and stability, excellent for deadlifts, squats, bench, etc. For a mixed-modal CrossFit workout, you'd likely want something with more shock absorption.
Just lift barefoot lol. Saves money, gets you closer to the ground.
@NoLiftsNoGains, true in theory, but most gyms have strict rules against going completely barefoot for hygiene and safety reasons. These are a good compromise.
@Jayne_Scott, exactly! It's an investment. My feet feel so much stronger since making the switch. You don't realize how much traditional shoes restrict your foot muscles until you try minimalist ones.
Anyone tried these compared to Xero Shoes? I'm currently using a pair of Xero Prio S for my lifting and they've been great. Curious how the Motus Strength stacks up in terms of feel and durability.
@PrinceVegeta, I've had both. Xeros are good, but I find the Vivobarefoot soles generally offer a bit more ground feel and flexibility, while still being durable. The Motus Strength also feels a bit more 'premium' in the upper construction than my Prio S.
Glad to see a review on these! It seems like a solid option for lifters who want that barefoot feel without actually being barefoot. The adaptability for different lifts is what makes them appealing.
@CoachCelestine, spot on. I learned that the hard way trying to do burpees in my deadlift slippers. Sticking to specialized footwear for specialized tasks is key. These Vivos are for strength, not cardio.
