Transitioning from Body Building to Intuitive Eating
After competing in my first bodybuilding show last year, I developed some really unhealthy habits around food. The extreme dieting left me with a lot of food anxiety and I found myself bingeing once the show was over. I am now trying to transition to intuitive eating to heal my relationship with food.
It is really scary to stop counting everything after months of precision. I am afraid I will just keep gaining weight forever. I am working with a coach who specializes in intuitive eating for athletes, which has been helpful. We are focusing on hunger and fullness cues instead of grams of protein.
Has anyone else made this transition? How did you deal with the fear of body changes? I want to get back to a place where I can enjoy a meal without feeling like I am failing. It is a long process but I think it is necessary for my long term health.
