I have been taking Epsom salt baths after my heavy leg days and I am wondering about the actual science of Epsom salt baths for sore muscle relief. People say that the magnesium is absorbed through the skin but I have read some conflicting articles on whether that actually happens in meaningful amounts.

I am in the US and I usually buy the big bags of Dr Teal s. Even if the magnesium absorption is a myth I find the warm soak really helps with my muscle tension. I am wondering if adding essential oils like eucalyptus or lavender makes a difference in the recovery process.

Do you guys find that baths actually help with DOMS? I am curious if you have a specific routine or temperature that you find most effective. I would love to hear if anyone has compared Epsom salts to regular hot baths and if there is a noticeable difference in how you feel the next day!
