I have a habit of skipping my deload weeks because I feel like I am wasting time if I am not lifting heavy. However I have been feeling pretty beat up lately and my numbers are starting to stall out. I think I finally need to accept that deloading is necessary.

How do you guys usually structure your deload weeks? Do you just cut the weight in half or do you reduce the volume and keep the intensity relatively high? I have heard different theories on what works best for maintaining strength while allowing the central nervous system to recover.

I am also curious about how often you all deload. Is every fourth week the standard or do you wait until you feel like you are hitting a wall? I want to be smarter about my training in 2026 so I can stay consistent and avoid these nagging injuries that keep popping up.
