Stop Comparing Yourself to Fitness Influencers on Instagram
I had to delete the Instagram app from my phone this morning because I was spiralling. I kept scrolling and seeing these fitness influencers who have perfect abs year round and I felt like absolute rubbish about my own progress. I have been training in Vancouver for two years and I am in good shape, but comparison is truly the thief of joy.
We have to remember that these people often use professional lighting and sometimes even photoshop to look that way. Plus, many of them are on gear which is something they rarely admit. It is not a fair comparison for a natural lifter who has a full time job.
What are you doing to protect your mental space? I have started following more body positive accounts and fewer elite physique athletes. I want to enjoy my training without feeling like a failure because I do not have a six pack while eating a normal Canadian diet.
