I am sixty-five and I just started going to the gym last year. It is a bit intimidating to be surrounded by twenty-somethings, but I am learning to accept my body for where it is at this stage of my life. I am not going to have the muscles I had in my youth, but I am getting stronger and my balance has improved.

I think there is a lack of representation for older adults in the fitness world. We are often told to just take it easy, but we are capable of so much more. I am focusing on functional strength so I can keep playing with my grandkids and stay independent as long as possible.

Are there any other seniors here? How do you handle the body changes that come with age? I find that self acceptance is much easier now than it was when I was younger, but it is still a journey. I would love to connect with others who are lifting in their later years.
