I have noticed the new tagging system that the mods implemented last week and I wanted to give my two cents. I think it is a great step toward making the search function actually useful. Being able to tag a post as Nutrition or Powerlifting makes it so much easier to find relevant info when I am browsing from my home in Calgary.

However I have noticed that some people are using way too many tags or using ones that do not make sense. I saw a thread about bicep curls tagged as Cardio and Leg Day which was a bit confusing. Maybe we need a drop down menu of approved tags instead of letting everyone type their own.

I am curious if the American members find the tags helpful for navigating the off topic sections. I usually stay in the General Discussion area but I have started using tags to find specific threads about gear and supplements. It is definitely saving me some time.

Do you think we should have mandatory tags for new threads? I think it would help keep the forum tidy but I do not want to make it too difficult for new members to post. I am interested to see how this system evolves over the coming months.
