I am trying to weigh up the pros and cons of iron vs bumper plates for home use in my new gym in London. Iron plates are obviously much cheaper and they take up less space on the bar which is great for heavy deadlifts.
However bumpers are much quieter and they are safer for the floor if I ever have to bail on a lift. I am worried that the noise of iron plates clanging together will annoy my neighbours.
Which one did you choose for your home gym and do you regret your decision? I am thinking about getting a mix of both to save some money but I am not sure if that is a good idea. I would love to hear your advice on what is best for a residential area.
