I have a stabbing pain in my heel every morning when I take my first steps. I am pretty sure it is plantars fasciitis and I am looking for plantars fasciitis treatment for active walkers and runners. I live in Montreal and I do a lot of walking on hard pavement which I think is making it worse.

I have started rolling my foot on a frozen water bottle and stretching my calves against the wall. I am also looking into getting some better insoles or orthotics for my shoes. I have heard that night splints can help but they look very uncomfortable to sleep in. I want to get back to my morning runs without feeling like I am stepping on glass.

Has anyone here successfully cured this while staying active? I am wondering if I should stop all high impact activity for a while or if there are ways to manage it while I continue to train. I would love to hear about any specific stretches or tools that actually made a difference for you.
