My chest has always been my weakest body part and I am struggling to feel it working during heavy benching. I feel it all in my front delts and triceps. I have tried widening my grip and slowing down the tempo, but the mind muscle connection is just not there.
I am looking for some specific techniques or cues to help engage the pectorals. I have heard that doing a light isolation move like cable flyes before the main lift can help prime the muscle. Does that actually work or is it just bro science?
I am training at a small gym in Birmingham and we do not have many fancy machines. If you have any tips for better chest engagement using just a barbell or dumbbells, please share them. I am desperate to fill out my shirts better this summer.
