Micellar Casein vs Milk Protein Concentrate for Nighttime Recovery
I am looking for a slow digesting protein to take before bed to help with recovery during my hockey season. I am currently debating between a pure micellar casein and a milk protein concentrate blend. I have heard that casein forms a gel in the stomach which provides a steady stream of amino acids.
Is there a big difference in how they feel? I tried one brand of casein and it was so thick it was like eating pudding. I am not sure if I can do that every night. I am looking for something that is smooth but still effective for preventing muscle breakdown while I sleep.
Does anyone have a favorite nighttime protein that does not clump up? I am shopping in Toronto so I can get most major brands. I would love to hear your thoughts on whether the price jump for pure micellar casein is worth the result.
