Is Yoga Better Than Static Stretching for Recovery
I am trying to decide if I should start a formal yoga practice or just stick to my usual post workout stretches. I am wondering is yoga better than static stretching for recovery when it comes to athletic performance. I find that I get quite bored just holding a hamstring stretch for thirty seconds.
Yoga seems like it offers more of a full body challenge and helps with balance but I am worried it might be too intense for a recovery day. I have seen some local classes in Vancouver that focus on restorative yoga which sounds like it might be the right middle ground.
What do you all prefer for your flexibility work? I want to stay supple for my weekend hikes but I do not want to overwork my joints. If you have noticed a big difference since switching to yoga please share your experience!
