Is Walking a Good Active Recovery Method
I have been trying to stay active on my rest days but I do not want to do anything too strenuous. I am wondering is walking a good active recovery method or should I be doing something more targeted like foam rolling? I usually just take my dog for a thirty minute stroll around the neighborhood.
I find that it helps clear my head and gets the blood moving without making me feel tired. However I am not sure if it is enough to actually help with muscle repair after a heavy gym session. Should I be trying to walk at a faster pace to get my heart rate up a little bit more?
I am in the US and it is finally starting to get nice outside so I would prefer to be outdoors. I would love to hear what your favorite low intensity activities are for those days when you are not lifting. Is a simple walk really enough to make a difference?
