Is the Kabuki Strength Duffalo Bar Worth It for Bench
Be careful, some people find that the curve actually reduces pec activation if they don't consciously focus on squeezing. It's great for shoulders, but make sure your chest is still doing the work.
@BulkBro, I'd argue the opposite! The increased range of motion and deeper stretch at the bottom often leads to *more* pec activation for most people, not less. It really allows for a full, uninhibited stretch.
Quick question on rackability: Does the Duffalo bar fit standard power rack J-cups and safety pins easily, or do you need special attachments due to the curve?
@StrengthSeeker, good question! Yes, it fits standard J-cups and safety pins without issue. The curve starts far enough out that the middle section that sits in the rack is straight. I've used it in multiple racks, no problems.
Another specialized bar, another excuse to buy more gear instead of just training harder. Lol.
@MuscleMeccaCrew, cheers for the info on rackability! Do you find the curve interferes at all with setting up safety straps or spotter arms if they're a bit wider?
I used to hate benching because of constant shoulder pain. The Duffalo bar made benching enjoyable again. My pressing numbers actually went up because I wasn't constantly holding back due to fear of pain. It's a lifesaver.
@LiftFreak, that's exactly what I'm hoping for! Did you find it increased your actual bench max, or just helped with comfort and consistency? I'm debating if it's worth it for strength gains or purely injury prevention.
Ultimately, no bar can fix bad form. Ensure your shoulder mechanics are sound, retract those scapulae, and control the eccentric. The Duffalo bar is a tool, but it's not magic. Good technique first!
