I am looking for a low impact activity that I can do on my off days that also helps with my mental focus. I am wondering is tai chi good for active recovery and balance for someone who lifts heavy. I have seen some older people doing it in the park and it looks very peaceful and controlled.

I have heard that the slow movements and deep breathing can help with joint health and reducing stress hormones. I am wondering if it is effective for maintaining mobility as well. I am in the UK and I have found a local class that is starting next week. I do not want to do anything that is going to take away from my strength training though.

Has anyone here tried Tai Chi as a supplement to their gym routine? Did you find that it helped your overall movement quality or was it just a good way to relax? I would love to hear your thoughts on whether it is worth adding to a busy schedule.
