I am looking for something to do on my rest days that focuses on core strength and stability. I am wondering is pilates a good form of active recovery for someone who primarily lifts weights. I have heard that it is great for improving posture and muscle control which could benefit my main lifts.

I am considering joining a local mat pilates class but I am not sure if it will be too taxing. I want something that helps me recover not something that leaves me more sore. I have heard that the controlled movements and focus on breathing can be very restorative for the body.

Has anyone here used pilates as their active recovery method? Did you notice an improvement in your overall body awareness and gym performance? I am in the UK and I am looking for a way to round out my fitness routine. I would love to hear your thoughts before I sign up for a block of classes.
