Is HMB Worth the Hype for Preventing Muscle Protein Breakdown
I am in a deep calorie deficit right now and I am worried about losing muscle mass. I have been reading about HMB and I am wondering if HMB is worth the hype for preventing muscle protein breakdown. It is a metabolite of leucine and is supposed to be very anti catabolic.
I am in Canada and I can find HMB in both powder and capsule form. I am already taking a lot of protein but I want that extra layer of protection while my calories are low. I have heard that it is especially effective for older lifters or those in a significant deficit.
Does anyone have experience using HMB during a cut? I want to know if it actually helped you maintain your strength and muscle fullness. I am looking for honest reviews before I add yet another supplement to my already expensive stack!
