I have been dealing with chronic shoulder impingement for years and my PT suggested dry needling. I am a bit skeptical about it because it looks like acupuncture but they say it targets trigger points in the muscle. I am curious if anyone here has tried it for shoulder issues.

Did you find that it provided long term relief or was it just a temporary fix? I have a lot of tension in my traps and levator scapulae that seems to be pulling my shoulder out of alignment. I am hoping that the needling might help those muscles finally relax.

I am also a bit nervous about the needles themselves. Is it painful or just uncomfortable? I am willing to try anything at this point because I am tired of having to take a week off every time I do heavy bench press.
