Alright lads and lasses,

I've been eyeing up those pull-up bars that hook onto your door frame for ages. My back and biceps really need some work, and I can't justify a full power tower right now. But I'm seriously worried about the safety of these things.

Has anyone had any bad experiences with them? Like, has one ever slipped off mid-rep, or caused damage to the door frame? I live in a rented place, so I absolutely cannot be messing up the property. I've seen some that claim to be 'no screw' installation, but I'm still skeptical.

On the flip side, for those who use them, are they actually effective? Can you get a decent workout in? And what about different grip positions – do they offer enough variety? Just trying to figure out if it's a genuine solution or a recipe for disaster.
