I always wear my belt for squats and deadlifts but I am wondering if a lifting belt is needed for overhead press and rows. I have seen some people wearing them for every single exercise in the gym but that seems like overkill. I want to make sure I am not becoming too reliant on the belt for core stability.

However when I am doing heavy overhead presses I sometimes feel a bit of a strain in my lower back. I am wondering if a belt would help me maintain a more rigid torso and allow me to push more weight. I also feel like my form on rows might be better with the extra support.

Do you wear a belt for your accessory movements? I am trying to find the right balance between safety and building natural core strength. I would love to hear your thoughts on when it is appropriate to use a belt and when it is better to go without it.
