I have been using a TDEE calculator and it says my maintenance is 2700. I am planning to jump straight to 3200 calories a day. Is a 500 calorie surplus too much if my goal is lean muscle mass? I do not want to end up regretful in two months.
I am training five days a week with a heavy focus on compound lifts like squats and deadlifts. I am wondering if 500 calories is the sweet spot or if I should start smaller, maybe around 250 calories extra? I have a wedding to go to in July and I want to look fit, not just big.
Has anyone here found that a smaller surplus works better for natural lifters? I am trying to avoid the massive water retention and fat gain that I see some guys at my gym dealing with when they go on a heavy bulk.
