How to Prepare for Your First Powerlifting Meet
I just signed up for my first local meet here in BC and I am starting to panic a little bit about the preparation. I have about eight weeks to go and I am not sure how to structure my peak or what I should bring on the day.
I have been training consistently but I have never had to perform on a platform with judges and a crowd. The rules about commands like start and rack are what worry me the most. I do not want to get a red light just because I was too fast with my bench press.
Does anyone have a checklist of things they wish they knew before their first meet? I am also wondering about what kind of food to pack for the day since I have heard these events can last for eight hours or more. Any tips for staying calm under the bar would be greatly appreciated.
