How to Perform a Couch Stretch for Tight Quads
I have been told that the couch stretch is the ultimate movement for opening up the quads and hip flexors. I am looking for how to perform a couch stretch for tight quads correctly because I find it extremely difficult to get into the position. My knee usually hurts and I cannot seem to get my back upright.
I have started using a pillow under my knee and doing it against a wall instead of an actual couch. I am trying to squeeze my glutes to get a deeper stretch in the front of my hip. I have heard that you should hold this for at least two minutes per side to see a real change in the tissue.
Do you have any tips for making this stretch more tolerable? I am in the US and I have very tight legs from years of cycling and sitting. I want to improve my mobility but I do not want to torture myself every day. Is there a regression or a simpler version that I can start with?
