How to Manage DOMS with Active Recovery
I am currently suffering from a severe case of delayed onset muscle soreness after a new workout routine. I am looking for how to manage doms with active recovery because I can barely move my arms today. I have heard that total rest can actually make the stiffness worse and that I should be doing some light activity.
I have been trying to do some very gentle stretching and some arm circles to get the blood flowing. I am also taking some warm baths with Epsom salts which feels nice but the pain returns as soon as I get out. I am wondering if a light jog would help or if I should just stick to some mobility work at home.
What is your secret for dealing with a bad case of DOMS? I am in the US and I have a big event this weekend so I need to recover as fast as possible. If you have any specific supplements or recovery techniques that actually work please let me know!
