I have been experimenting with how to make concrete weights for a diy home gym in my garage in Illinois. With the price of iron being so high lately I thought I would try making my own and it has been a fun project so far.
I used some plastic buckets as molds and some metal pipe for the center. They are not as pretty as professional weights but they weigh exactly what they are supposed to. I am planning on painting them to give them a bit more of a finished look.
Does anyone have tips on how to make them more durable so they do not chip when you put them on the bar? I am also wondering about the best way to calibrate the weight accurately. If you have made your own weights please share your process with me!
