My biggest fear when cutting is that I am going to lose the muscle that I spent all winter building. I have noticed that my arms look a bit smaller and my bench press has gone down a few pounds. Is this inevitable or am I doing something wrong?

I am keeping my protein high and I am still lifting heavy but I am wondering if I should reduce my volume. I am in a moderate deficit of about 400 calories. I really want to maintain as much strength as possible while I lean out.

What is the best way to monitor muscle loss? I am using a scale and a tape measure but I am thinking about getting a Dexa scan. I would love to hear from anyone who has successfully done a body recomposition or a very clean cut without losing muscle.
