How to Avoid Hamstring Strains During Sprinting
I have been doing some sprint intervals at the local track but I am always worried about my hamstrings popping. I am looking for how to avoid hamstring strains during sprinting because I have had a few close calls lately. I feel a sudden tightness whenever I reach top speed.
I have heard that doing Nordic curls is the best way to build eccentric strength and protect the hamstrings. I am also trying to make sure my glutes are doing their share of the work. I am wondering if my sprinting mechanics are off or if I just need to spend more time on my warm up before I start the high intensity efforts.
What is your go to protocol for preparing for a sprint session? I am looking for a mix of dynamic stretches and some low intensity build up runs. I want to get faster without spending the next six weeks on the sidelines. I would love to hear from anyone who has overcome chronic hamstring issues!
