There is so much conflicting info on how much protein is actually needed for bulking. Some say 1g per pound of bodyweight, others say 0.8g is plenty when you are in a calorie surplus. I am currently 180 pounds and eating about 220g of protein.

I am wondering if I am just wasting money on extra protein that my body cannot even use. If I lowered my protein and increased my carbs, would that be better for my performance? I am finding it hard to eat this much meat every single day.

What has worked best for you all? I am curious if anyone has noticed a difference in muscle retention or growth when they dropped their protein levels slightly during a bulk. I want to be efficient with my nutrition and my spending.
