How important are deload weeks really for continuous hypertrophy progress? Do you guys do them?

Afternoon, folks.

I've been lifting for a good few years now, and the concept of a deload week always pops up. The idea is to reduce volume/intensity to allow for recovery, prevent injury, and resensitize your body to training stimulus, supposedly leading to better gains in the long run.

But honestly, I rarely take them. If I feel good, I keep pushing. If I feel a bit run down, I might just take an extra rest day or reduce a set here and there, but a full week of significantly reduced effort feels like I'm losing momentum. I worry about detraining, even if it's just a little bit.

For those of you seriously focused on hypertrophy and aesthetics, how strictly do you adhere to deload weeks? Do you schedule them regularly, say every 6-8 weeks, or do you only take them intuitively when you feel burnt out? And have you genuinely noticed a significant positive impact on your muscle growth and progress from incorporating them?

I'm trying to decide if I should start planning them in or if my current 'listen to my body' approach is good enough for continuous gains. What's the general consensus here?
