Electric Vehicles vs Hybrid Cars which is Better for Long Commutes
I have a 60-mile round trip commute every day and I am tired of spending so much on gas. I am trying to decide if I should go full electric with a Tesla Model 3 or stick with a hybrid like a Toyota Prius or RAV4 Hybrid.
My main concern with a full EV is the winter range. I live in an area where it gets very cold and I have heard the battery life drops significantly. I do not want to be stranded on the highway because I could not find a charger.
On the other hand, a hybrid feels like a half-measure. I would still have to deal with oil changes and engine maintenance. But the peace of mind of having a gas tank is definitely a plus for long trips.
Does anyone here use an EV for a long daily commute in a cold climate? I would love to know how much your range actually drops in the winter.
