I am currently debating between conventional and sumo deadlifts for my upcoming meet in Toronto. I have always pulled conventional but lately I have seen so many people switching to sumo because of the shorter range of motion.
I am about 6 feet tall with relatively long legs and a short torso. People tell me that conventional should be my go to but my lower back always feels so beat up after a heavy session. When I tried sumo last week it felt much more technical but my back felt fine the next day.
Which do you think is better for long term powerlifting success? I do not want to switch if it means my numbers will drop significantly in the short term. Has anyone here made the permanent switch to sumo and never looked back?
