I have been debating whether I should include a weekly cheat meal or a structured refeed day in my cutting plan. I have heard that refeed days are better because they focus on high carbohydrates which can help boost leptin levels and thyroid function.
A cheat meal seems more fun because I can eat whatever I want but I am worried I will go overboard and undo my whole week of progress. I am in a 500 calorie deficit daily right now. I am in Canada and the cold weather makes me want to eat more comfort food.
What do you guys prefer? If you do refeed days how many extra carbs do you add and do you lower your fats on those days? I am looking for the most scientific way to keep my metabolism from stalling while I lose fat.
