I am shopping for my stage heels and I am completely overwhelmed by the options. I have seen reviews for Fabulicious and Ellie Shoes but I am not sure which ones are actually comfortable for standing backstage for hours. I am in California and most of the girls at my gym suggest the five inch clear platforms.

I am worried about wobbling on stage because I am not used to wearing heels that high. I have heard that some brands have better ankle support than others. I want to make sure I do not trip during my T-walk because that would be a total disaster.

Does anyone have a preference between the slip on style and the ones with the ankle strap? I have heard the straps can break up the line of the leg but they feel much more secure. I would love some honest feedback on what brands held up best for you on show day.

Hey FitCaliGirl, I totally get it! The options are overwhelming. My advice is to go with Fabulicious. They tend to have a wider base and feel more stable. Get a pair with a 5-inch heel and 1-inch platform, that's usually the standard and offers the best balance for posing. Don't cheap out, your stability on stage is paramount!

@A4tech, absolutely! Stability is everything. I've seen girls wobble with less stable heels and it totally throws off their posing routine. Fabulicious are definitely worth the investment for that peace of mind.

Agreed, Fabulicious are great but can be pricey. If you're on a budget, sometimes you can find good 'like new' pairs on Facebook marketplace or specific competitor resale groups. Just make sure they're clean and not too worn.

Replying to @PosingPro about budget: You can also sometimes find decent deals on Amazon, but read reviews carefully. Or check local dancewear stores; sometimes they carry suitable clear heels for a bit less.

Okay, controversial opinion: Ellie Shoes are actually more comfortable for me. My feet are a bit wider, and I found the Fabulicious brand pinched my toes after a while, especially during practice. Ellie's plastic straps felt softer.

@StageDiva, interesting! I have wider feet too. Did you size up with Ellie's or stick to your true size? I'm always worried about my toes hanging over the edge.

Beyond brand, the MOST important thing is practice. Seriously. Wear them around the house, practice your T-walk, your quarter turns. Get used to how they feel, how your balance shifts. No heel is 'comfortable' if you're not used to it.

+1 to @CoachCelestine. It's like training for anything else. You wouldn't lift max weight without practice. Same for heels. Hours in them, even if just walking around the kitchen. It makes a huge difference on stage day.

Honestly, the clear heels are all pretty much the same. Find a style you like from a reputable brand (Fabulicious is fine) and focus on getting the right heel height/platform combo for your federation rules. Comfort comes from fit and practice, not magic.

@Dragustav, I wouldn't say *all* are the same. Some definitely have better cushioning or slightly different strap designs that impact comfort. It's subtle but can matter over a long day. YMMV.

Just got my Poshmark Fabulicious ones. They arrived super fast! For anyone buying online, always measure your foot and check the brand's size chart. I'm usually a 7.5 but needed an 8 in Fabulicious to stop my heel from hanging off the back.

@Jayne_Scott, good call on sizing up! I've heard that about Fabulicious, they run a tad small for some. It's a common mistake that can make the stage experience really uncomfortable.

Don't forget to check the strap security. Some cheaper brands have flimsy buckles or straps that can break. You do NOT want a shoe malfunction on stage. Make sure they feel secure around your ankle.

This is so true, @Lurkers! I always double-check the stitching and buckle quality. A bit of super glue on the buckle threads can't hurt for extra peace of mind, just in case.

I tried on so many pairs and ended up with a lesser-known brand called 'Glamour Goddess' because they just felt right. The key is to try them on, walk around, and see how *your* foot feels. What works for one person might not work for another.

@Milligan, how did they feel 'right'? Was it the arch support, the toe box, or something else specific? I'm trying to figure out what I should be looking for when I try them on.

Break them in early! Don't wait until a week before the show. Start wearing them for 15-30 minutes a day, a couple of months out, especially during posing practice. It'll toughen up your feet and get you comfortable.

@RockyBuilder, yes! I learned this the hard way. Ended up with blisters during prejudging because I didn't break them in enough. Now I wear them with socks for a bit to stretch them out.

Quick question - is there a rule on maximum heel height or platform height? I've seen some girls with really high ones and others with more modest heels. Does it depend on the federation?

@SweatLovin, usually it's a 4.5-5 inch heel with a 1-inch platform, but yes, it can vary slightly by federation. Always check the specific rules for your show. Some explicitly state maximums.

Ultimately, confidence is your best accessory. If you feel good in your heels, it will show. Don't let the search stress you out too much. Find what works for you and own it!

@Zigurd, 100% this. I saw a girl with slightly 'imperfect' heels once, but her confidence was through the roof and she looked amazing. It's all about how you carry yourself.

For anyone with wider feet like me, some brands offer 'wide fit' options, though they're harder to find. Clear heels with slightly thicker straps also tend to be more forgiving. I had luck with a custom-order pair from an online boutique that specializes in comp shoes.

@pakiman, thanks for that tip on wide fit! It's a real struggle finding comfortable shoes for wider feet, especially clear ones. I'll definitely look into custom options.
