Beyond Crunches: Best Bodyweight Core Exercises for Strength & Stability
Hi all,
I'm trying to build a stronger core, but honestly, I'm so bored of crunches and sit-ups. I know they have their place, but I feel like I'm not really engaging my deep core muscles, and my lower back sometimes feels it more than my abs.
What are some really effective bodyweight core exercises that don't involve endless repetitions of crunches? I'm looking for movements that build functional strength and stability, not just aesthetic abs. Things like planks are good, but I'm wondering what progressions or variations people find most challenging and rewarding.
I've heard about hollow body holds and L-sits, but they seem pretty advanced. Any tips for beginners to work towards those, or other less common but highly effective exercises? I'm keen to mix things up and really feel that core engagement.
