I am moving from Florida to Winnipeg next month and I am absolutely terrified of the winter. I have been told that I need a serious coat if I want to survive the -30 degree temperatures. I am looking for the absolute best winter coat for extreme cold.

I have looked at Canada Goose and Moose Knuckles, but they are so expensive. Are they actually worth the 1000 dollar price tag or are you just paying for the brand name? I have also seen some great reviews for Eddie Bauer and North Face parkas.

I need something that is windproof and waterproof because I have heard the wind chill is what really gets you. I also want something that is not too bulky so I can still move around comfortably.

What do you all wear when the temperature drops that low? I am also looking for recommendations for boots and gloves because I do not want to lose any toes! Any advice for a winter newbie would be a lifesaver.
