Best Mobility Drills for Ankle Stability
I have a history of rolling my ankles and I am looking for the best mobility drills for ankle stability to stop it from happening again. I play a lot of casual soccer and I find that my ankles feel very weak on uneven ground. I want to build some resilience so I can stay on the field and out of the physio office.
I have started doing some single leg balance work and some ankle circles with a resistance band. I have also heard that strengthening the peroneals and the tibialis posterior is key for preventing those inward rolls. I am in Canada and the ground is currently very icy so I need all the stability I can get.
What are your go to exercises for strong and mobile ankles? I am also wondering if I should be wearing specific shoes or using tape for extra support. I would love to hear from anyone who has overcome chronic ankle issues and what worked best for them.
