I am looking to create a home cinema experience in my spare room but I do not want to spend thousands on a massive TV. I have been looking at budget 4K projectors as an alternative. I am wondering if you can actually get a decent picture for under 1000 dollars.

I have seen some models from BenQ and Optoma that have great reviews. I am curious about how they perform in a room that is not perfectly dark. I have some blackout curtains but there will still be a bit of light during the day.

How is the fan noise on these budget models? I do not want a loud humming sound ruining the quiet parts of a movie. I also want to know if I need to buy a dedicated screen or if a white wall is good enough for a beginner setup.

If you have a projector setup at home, I would love to hear your advice. Is the extra size of the image worth the trade-off in contrast and brightness compared to a traditional TV?
