Best Active Recovery Workouts for Muscle Soreness
I have been hitting the weights pretty hard lately and my legs are absolutely killing me today. I am curious what everyone thinks are the best active recovery workouts for muscle soreness. I usually just sit on the sofa and wait for the pain to go away but I have heard that moving around can actually speed up the healing process.
I tried a very light session on the stationary bike this morning and it seemed to help loosen things up a bit. I am also considering a long walk or maybe some light swimming at the local pool. Do you find that low impact cardio is better than just doing a few bodyweight movements at home?
I really want to get back to my heavy squats but I do not want to push it if I am still this sore. If you have a specific routine that you follow on your off days please let me know. I am open to anything that gets me back in the gym faster!
