Exactly. It's a "trunk flexion" movement, not a "leg" movement. Same with cable crunches—don't sit back on your heels, keep the hips high and curl the spine.

Anyone tried the weighted decline sit-up? Used to be a staple in the old school Pumping Iron days. Feels like it builds that thick upper ab wall.

Love/hate relationship with those. They work, but they can be brutal on the lower back if your form slips even a little bit.

I tried the cable crunches today. Wow, the pump is actually real. Never felt my abs 'burn' like that with just floor crunches.

Welcome to the dark side, Wes! Haha. Stick with it for 8 weeks and you'll see a massive difference in depth.

What about tempo? Do you guys go fast or slow? I've been trying to hold the contraction for 2 seconds.

Slow and controlled always wins for hypertrophy. Explode on the way down/up, hold the squeeze, and 3 seconds on the return. Time under tension is key.

Consistency is the real secret though. Everyone trains abs for two weeks then gives up because they don't have an 8-pack yet.

True that. It's a marathon, not a sprint. Especially when you're trying to build actual muscle volume there.

Appreciate all the advice guys. Gonna stick to a 3-day weighted routine and see where I am by June. Cheers!
