I am considering joining a gym that has an infrared sauna and I am curious about the benefits of infrared saunas vs active recovery like walking or stretching. I have heard that the deep heat can help with muscle pain and even improve cardiovascular health. It sounds like a much more relaxing way to recover than doing more exercise.

I am wondering if the sauna is actually effective for flushing out toxins and improving circulation as much as light movement. I am in the UK and I find that the warmth of a sauna would be very welcome during the winter months. I do not want to replace my active recovery if it is more beneficial though.

Do any of you use infrared saunas regularly? Have you noticed a big difference in your recovery speed or your overall energy levels? I would love to hear your thoughts on whether it is worth the extra cost or if I should just stick to my usual routine. Cheers for any advice!
